My daughter liked the live edge table I made for my son and asked if I could make a live edge quilt stand as a gift to her boss for Xmas. He is building a cabin in Northern Michigan and she thought it would be a nice touch - especially since I have some live edge ash that he milled from some of the trees cleared for the cabin.

I wasn't happy with the distressed look I gave to the top and mitered edge of the stand and wondered if I could veneer a live edge to those ends.

I trimmed the live edge with my bandsaw

Then sanded the back to get the veneer as thin as possible

I then glued the veneer to a fresh cut end

I filled any gaps with a danish oil mixed with sawdust and oiled the entire piece

And, the finished stand. I was very happy with the result
