I saw the thread about the JDS/Laguna cyclone last week. Then, I dropped my my local WWing store yesterday and saw the Shop Fox mini cyclone. http://www.woodstockint.com/SHOP-FOX...LLECTOR/W1816/ I then got curious and looked at the Grizzly mini cyclone.http://www.grizzly.com/products/Cycl...-2-Stage/G0703

These things make me scratch my head. They don't seem like they would be as effective as a fulll size cyclones, certainly not as Pentz describes a good design. This is made more evident by the fact that they all have some type of filter cleaning device, whether motorized or by hand crank.

I also wonder if they have any type of air ramp, neutral vane or similar.

My main question is this: Wouldn't the filters get damaged very quickly by the constant scrubbing required keep them clean? I would love to hear from anyone who has one/know someone who has one, and has measured the filter life.

I don't mean to offend anyone who has one of these. I'm not criticizing your choice. I'm curious because the scale seems so much more reasonable for the average shop (including mine).
