    #12 scraper ?

As I've been surfing ebay trying to get a feel for what a lot of stuff eventually sells for (and I might add I'm sometimes amazed ) I've seen several #12 and #12 1/2 go for considerable sums...$80 and up. Since I've never read anyone here using one of these, and because LN and LV haven't replicated them, I'm assuming these are better as collector's items. Anyone out there use one?

I have a 12 1/2 and I like using it. It is similar in use to a #80 but larger and with more options for adjustment. In my case I needed a replacement blade and the only place I could find one was direct from Hock tools. Not too expensive but they were the single source I could find. I wouldn't pay $80 for one, you can get just as good or better results using a LV or LN scraper plane. If I were doing over again I would probably get a scraper plane but the 12 1/2 works well enough to not go to the bother.
