How can one mill a font that has thick and thin lines? I believe a cone shaped cutter would work if the depth of cut varied with line thickness. Are there fonts available with g-codes for each letter?

You use a v bit - the most popular are either 60 degrees or 90 degrees included angle...and software like V Carve Pro that generates the G-code. It calculates the distance between the lines of a font character, and generates G code that has the router head lift to make the thinner elements of a character.
