    Maloof Inspired Non-Rocker

Having finished the bedroom furniture out of mesquite, we needed a chair to go in a corner for dressing, etc. Having built three rockers, I solicited some tips from Robert Hensarling in Uvalde, Tx. knowing he had built some "non rockers" in the Maloof style. This is the finshed chair.
I am now on my 5th chair, a rocker out of cherry. (Robert says cherry is something you make pies out of.)
Thanks for looking and please send some rain.

That came out great. Are the back slats bent or cut to shape from larger stock?

Glenn, cut to shape out of larger (6/4) stock. Only 5 slats for the non-rocker vs. 7 for the standard.

That is absolutely georgous. I've got the plans and the tools to build a Maloof, now if I can just find the time. Tom, you're a true inspiration.

    That's a good looking chair!
I have a Maloof like non-rocker I have been working on an and off for the last couple of years. I'll finish it one of these days, but not nearly so nice as yours.

P.S. You are more than welcome to have our rain. I am growing very tired of it.
