    Good point Mike. For woodworking, why not make a tool sized to be useful for direct measurement? I want a "real" one because I am intrigued by mechanical computation but I plan to make a Tolpin version just to see if it turns out to be useful.

    Thinking about it, since only one of the lines found on a sector is used in Tolpin's version, it probably should not be called a sector. Now since the only thing used is the "line of lines" and since the "line of lines" is not an intrinsic measurement (inches, millimeters, furlongs, etc.), I suggest it be called a "LOL Scale"!
