I was thinking of using a grizzly or harbor freight dust collector 2-3hp for the blower

    what are your thoughts?

I dont' know about this cyclone from ebay but I would think the super dust deputy would be better and it's about the same price ($219 + $25 S/H). The ebay cyclone is $199 + 48.75 S/H. I don't have either but I have the smaller dust deputy for shop vac and Thien's baffle for my dust collector. The dust deputy works extremely well.

http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthre...lector-upgrade .Take a look at this thread. I think it is the same cyclone. I also have one and it works very well. When I bought mine (last year) the shipping was free.

I don't think the dust deputy can handle 6" hose or 2-3hp

Another option is to build a 6" Thien seperator - $50 or so in materials. Here's a great documented build: http://www.cgallery.com/smf/index.php?topic=429.0

The super Dust Deputy has a 5" input and 6" output. There are optional reducers from Oneida.

    5" to 4" Reducer - DRL050400
    6" to 5" Reducer - DRL060500
    6" to 4" Reducer - DRL060400
