Hey guys,
Last week I finally got an opportunity to work on assembly of my machine and ran my first parts. Overall, I'm amazed at the finished quality of the part and am must say that this is truly exceeding my expectations. This thing is a rock!
My spindle hadn't come in yet (you guys strong armed me into getting the 2kW) so I made up a quick and dirty mount for a trimmer I have. The program calls for 150ipm cutting which to a noob, seemed pretty fast. I was so excited that I ran the part again and upped the feed override up to about 150% - final part looked the same in both runs. I'm most amazed at the quality of the finish right off the machine - any sanding would make this worse.
So, I've still got a bit of work to finalize the machine - limit sensors, bench, spindle mounting but I should have that done within 2 to 3 weeks.
