    Keyless lathe chuck

Does anybody have any experience with the Jacobs Keyless lathe chuck? I am looking to get a chuck for my lathe and would prefer a keyless but don't know if it would be wiser to purchase a keyed one.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

    Kyle,

I have a Albrecht keyless chuck on my drill press, and it is wonderful. Very well made and it only slipped once with a 3" forstner in about 10 years.

I have a keyless on my lathe. I'm very happy with it. I bought the chuck from wood craft and the taper from grizzly

The newer keyless chucks are much better than they used to be. Most of them tighten up normally, then if you put more force on them, they ratchet tighter. I really can't explain it, except if you use the chuck, you will know that it is a really tight hold.
