Look what I found on Craigslist... (Pic heavy GLOAT!!!)

So I went over to a guy's shop this afternoon, where I picked up...

    A grinder...

    To sharpen the chisels...

To shape the wood held in the chuck(s)...

    OF THE DELTA 1460!!!! Whoohoo!

    Complete with sanding table...

    16-speed jackshaft

    Original motor...

    More accessories & tool holders

Some of which I don't know what they are...

A whole bunch of measuring calipers

    And some tablesaw accessories

And all for the princely sum of ... $220!

I am a happy bunny. I believe the lathe is a 1946 model by the serial number. A couple of thing I didn't know, the lathe is indexable, and the motor has instructions as to how to reverse the running direction by flopping two wires. I reckon if I run those out to a switch, I'll have an indexable, reversing 1460.

The one on the right looks to be a curved tool rest. It allows you to keep the tool rest close to curved things such as bowls and hollow forms. The one on left I have no idea but I am sure that on of the more experienced guys in the Turners Forum (I'm still pretty green) will know what it is.

    Oh and nice haul.

I see a bunch of pictures, but without pictures of you holding todays New York times with each of the tools, these could have been copied from anywhere on the net.

(just joking) Super nice haul, and I hope you know that all of your extra lathe doo dads are very ebayable.

Stephen, Even if the picture of the NY Times was included, it could have been Photoshopped into the pictures, thus proving nothing.
Mark, Nice haul and enjoy your adventure.

Nice score Mark! Now it's time to put those tools to work....
Let us know when the maiden spin happens with the lathe.

Thanks to all for their nice comments.

Realistically, I think the first piece will be later in the year, possibly next. The one thing that's missing is the leg set, so I'll need to build a bench for it. I may as well take the opportunity to restore the lathe too, as I seem to have nearly all the accessories that were made for it. So this may be a six month task, but I'll have a pretty darn good setup at the end of it! I know I can jack up the head and tail stocks for more swing, I can put a DC motor on it for true VS, so I think it's worth investing in at this point. I wonder if I could get a bed extension for it if I wanted to turn longer items? Or maybe a later gap bed, if the headstock would fit.
