    Broken? carter quick release

I have a 14in. Powermatic bandsaw with the riser, the saw came with the carter quick release. the saw is about two yrs. old and I don't use it that much. The handle just flops up and down now. Is it broke or can I fix it? I'm kinda afraid to take it apart without some input from someone who has this problem or knows more about this than I do. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ray,

I would give Powermatic a call. That bandsaw has a 5 year warranty. They should be able to help you with info and parts.

There's not a lot that can happen to the quick release, except taking too much tension off. There is 3 positions on it, tight, loose and way loose so you can change the blade. Did you try just tightening on the lever a bit and putting it on tight? If nothing seems to work, then it must be broken. Or, perhaps, you can have it too tight, and you can't get it on the operating notch.
