    furnace motor wiring

Im in the process of building an air cleaner. I have a squirrel cage motor with 5 wires connected to it. The red and white wires were connected to the 110 volt power. I dont know what the other 3 are for.....blue, yellow, and black. I assume they are to change speeds but not sure. Does anyone know what they are for? If they are to change speeds how do I wire it and what kind of control will I need?

Thanks for any answers in advance

I just did the same thing today. On mine the white wire is a common, the black was high speed, the blue was medium speed and the red was low speed. I wired to the white and blue and taped the others off. (white from supply to white, black from supply through a switch then to blue). Not sure if multiple speeds is worth the trouble but it could be done.
