    Dead Laser (Epilog 45w)

    Middle of a job the laser just stopped cutting. Checked all the safety switches they are all working correctly. What I did find was the voltage of the power supply says power in 100 - 240v output 45v.. What I found was 105v on both out puts to the laser tube and mother board can someone verify their out put voltage to their laser tube? I have already sent an email to Epilog but they aren't open.

    Don't know about voltages. Try going to the maintenace menu under laser alignment and see if you can manually test fire it.

    Martin I saw this in a post last night that you replied to I do not know how to do that and could not find it in the manual can you tell me how please.

    Craig,

    The ps to the laser should be 100-240 AC (240VAC when set up as 220/240 VAC system), I see you're in CA so I assume 110VAC is your input voltage for the machine-(regular wall receptacle). Coming out of the ps for the laser should be 45 VDC or very close-note VAC vs. VDC! When you say you have 105 v coming out of laser powers supply (ps) I got lost. Check again your voltages to verify. As far as power to MOBO they should be coming from somewhere else.

    Craig, I have a Legend EXT but I think we probably have the same control panel on the front
    of the laser.

    If you look on the left of the display you'll find a maintenance button, push that.
    Next in the menu go to 2 which is laser align and press OK.
    Next the panel will tell you to push the "up arrow to fire the laser. This you have to
    be careful with if the lid is open as it will fire. (this is used mainly for testing alignment)
    I always put a large piece of masking tape over the circle where the laser goes through the
    lens assembly. That way if the laser fires, you can see it burn the tape. Also you can see how
    well the laser is aligned by how centered the hole is.

    This will tell you at least if the laser can be fired manually.

    See if in your manual or the tech area at Epilog about firing the laser.
    I'm sure you have it there some where as this is instrumental for alignment.
    So you may want to check under alignment.

    AC is the power into the power supply 45V DC is the power out this seems a little wierd most output power for the laser tubes is 48V DC. You want to measure the output side of the power supply.

    I did check the output this morning it is 47.6 vdc I checked it as AC originaly my Bad Waiting for Epilog to respond

    Dead Coherent Laser tube / RF board Will be installing new Epilog tube with 2 extra fans for cooling should be here in 2 days.

    Ouch! My condolences. (And, as my tube's power is clearly, if slowly, declining, I fear a tube replacement is in my near future as well.)
    Longtai 460 with 100 watt EFR, mostly for fun. More power is good!! And a shop with enough wood working tools to make a lot of sawdust. Ex-owner of Shenhui 460-80 and engraving business with 45 watt Epilog Mini18.

    This tube was only 9 months old but it got some heat in the beginning of summer before the air got put in and has about 3500 hours also it runs 7 days a week 10 - 12 hrs a day the first tube lasted over 2 years the new tube is 1195.00 with a 2 year warranty. so it is a 50.00 a month business expense. Sent my tube in today new tube being sent out tomorrow at the latest up and running by late Wednesday if all goes well.

    Well the laser has risen from the dead. Got a new Epilog tube 2000.00 cheaper then a coherent tube today installed it and aligned the head and off we go. Here is the great news it is hot and running 27% faster then ever, the jobs I had ran at a 14sp now at a 22 sp. Only one thing to say Thanks Epilog and their new tubes are nice and hot. Also in the conversion they replaced the 4 fans to a 6 fan system so cooler days ahead also.
