I am never wrong.
Well...I thought I was wrong once...but I was mistaken.
If it's a waterborne, it's not a real lacquer. It's an waterborne acrylic. Some waterborne acrylics marketed as "lacquer" claim to melt into the underlying coat like real lacquer but the bottom line is that they are acrylic finishes.
Howie.........
It doesn't compare to lacquer at all, they're two entirely different finishes. Acrylic remains fairly soft, abrades easily and polishes to a semi gloss at best. However, rubbing it out makes for one of the nicest satin finishes you'll ever see, but its just not durable.
