Dust collection setup with HF dust collector

I am getting my shop setup in my new house and I am ready for run some dust collection. I have the HF 2 hp dust collector and I am not planning on upgrading for awhile. What I would like to do is run a collection duct through the attic above my shop. I have a 10' ceiling and it would be a 4" vertical duct up to the attic 10' across to the center of the shop and then 5' of duct to a hose I can swap between my planer and jointer.
Anyone done this? Does my dust collector have the power?

The short answer to your question is probably not.

If you are running a stock configuration on the DC unit I would be surprised if you achieved acceptable results. Even with the documented modifications I'm skeptical that this unit would perform satisfactorily in the network you describe.

I have made a couple of mods to my unit and hook it up directly to the machine I am using. I am content with the performance of the unit under these circumstances.
Measure twice, cut three times, start over. Repeat as necessary.

30' of 4"? You're going to lose a lot of suction there...
