no email alerts about thread replies

when i make a post and below in the options box it says:

Subscribe to this thread and notify me of changes:

i check the box and want instant using email but i may only get one email
and other times i may get several but the thread has one or two full pages
of responses so whats up with that?

From our FAQ, this may help shed some light on your situation:

• Instant Email Notification - sends an email as soon as a new post is added to the thread. This is not sent for every reply and will only be sent once until you revisit the forums.
