How to? for the computer wizards out there..

Hi Guys, Merry Christmas to all at the Creek!

I, as usual, have an ususual problem. We've been running CASmate & a Mimaki vinyl-plotter on a 1998 Dell computer since dinosaurs walked the earth. My esteemed partner, ignoring my regular warnings of maxing out the memory on the dear old thing, crashed the program, and wiped out all the .scv files on the C drive, except for the file that he'd clicked on to open. Is there any way of getting the files back? Have they disappeared forever and ever?
The only way to communicate with this old 'puter is via an ancient 100meg zip-drive, or CD.
    CASmate re-loaded just fine.

    Barb,
The most important thing is to first NOT save any additional files to the hard drive. The files should still be there, but the space is marked as "empty", thus if you save something you will overwrite that section. Do an online search for a free "undelete" or "recover" program - if need to download write it to a CD. Then run the program. A google search should provide a long list, as a well as some videos. Good luck.
