    Lidded box

Unknown wood. Turned from single block of wood. Approx. 3 3/4" wide and high. Oil and wax finish. Photos a bit yellow, back ground should be white.

Very nice lidded box. The spalting on top of the lid is fantastic.

Great piece there Allan, I especially like the splatingon the lid, 'just' trailing into the body. Is there a foot (that seems to be a popular question!)?

Nice orientation of the wood, and nice form. Whatever it is, it has some tight growth rings.

Really nice box and the spalting on the lid really sets it off.

Foot 1 3/4" , just high enough to get it off the tale top. I was intending to remove it, but decided it would be harder to pick it up with the larger diameter near the bottom.

I took the liberty of correcting the color cast in photoshop. Neat little box!

Thanks David. I was not getting the correction that I wanted with my program.

This is really quite nice, Allan. I see so many small boxes and very little to really set them apart. This one has got a lot of personality. The shape of the box and lid are a bit different "the usual" and the way you used the figure in the wood adds a lot of interest.

Really like this - great design featuring the spalting on the top.

Nice work Allan! I really like the form and - of course - that spalted lid! Also very impressed with how tight the growth rings are!

I don't know why, but this is just cool!! Kind of a big flat spot under the rim...but the shape, wood and lid are all really fun! Finish looks right on the $$ so go make more!

Hard to find boxes that have a unique shape. this one sure does. the lid of course is a knockout.
