I needed to make a couple of Salad Bowls, one for a friend and one for a raffle. So, I raided my stash and came up roughouts that I've had drying for a couple of years. The first bowl (13" x 5 1/2") is from an Ash Tree and the second bowl (12" x 4") is from Madrone....both hail from the Roseburg, Oregon area. I've been doing pyro on a border area of many of my bowls, and had gotten a little bored with some of the patterns I was using. Then, I remembered that Baxter Smith had done some pyro work that I liked, so I looked up his recent projects and it inspired part of my design on the borders for both of these bowls (thanks Baxter).
Oh, the finish is Bees Oil ( a mixture of mineral oil and bees wax). I really like the stuff!
C&C's are always welcome!!!!
