Thread: JDS Flask Template

    JDS Flask Template

I was asked about a template for the new JDS Flask. Since files can't be PM'd
I thought I'd share this and my method for making templates.

First I scan the piece, then I import it into Corel.

Next I turn off the printer icon in the object manager for the picture
and lock it. (I make sure the printer icon is turned on for the outline.)
*Note if you want to reposition the picture you have to unlock the layer.

Next I add a new layer in the object manager and draw a hairline
    around the image.

I find this to be the best way to handle some of these pieces esp. if
they are odd shaped or have a screen printed area. This way I can see
as close as possible to the live area I am working with to maximize
the layout for the best possible effect.

Some pieces I make a jig to hold them and position the object in the template
as to how the jig is positioned.

Sometimes i take some scrap or matboard and vector the outline, that way
I can position the piece on that and be sure of the engraving area. You can
also use masking tape on the table if you like.

I use this method for making most all of my templates.

    Hope this helps!
