how do I save "sent" private messages?

How do I save a private message I'm sending? I'm sure this is really a naïve question and appreciate the help! The sent folder in my PM is always empty.

Go to Settings, then in My Settings look in My Account , General settings; in Private messaging click on the button by Sent Private Messages to save a copy by default. I hope!!!
