Breadboard ends on wormy Ambrosia mable?

I'm making a dinning table 3.5 ft by 7ft. The legs and apron will be walnut and the top will be in wormy maple. Do you think wormy maple or walnut breadboards would look ok?

I like contrast, but sometimes too much is too much. I'd make the breadboard ends from the maple. You could use the walnut for the vertical pegs that hold the breadboard on to the main planks, so you just see a few square peg ends in the top surface.

Jamie's right. Go with breadboard ends that match the rest of the top.

Sometimes. I'll make a piece where the base is darker or a darker wood than the top. Generally, the reason is to draw attention to the top and away from the base. I've also used contrasting butterfly joints on table tops but I think walnut breadboard ens would be visually jarring and I think they'd visually shorten the table.
