    A Question About Legs

This is a design I did for a client. It is a cutting table for a seamstress client of his. The piece is already built and at the finishers but I'm curious about a construction detail and how others might handle it. The legs are some stock turnings from Osborne Wood Products. The stock legs aren't long enough to go all the way to the underside of the top so I designed it so there's a square mortise in the top of the leg, a mating tenon in the post between the top and the case bottom and square mortises in the case bottom as well. The assembly was arranged so the case could be put together upside down and then the legs with their stretchers (hidden under the bottom shelf) installed on the tenons. As it turned out, my client was able to get the legs made custom to the right length but I'm wondering how others might have handled this if the longer legs weren't available.

Your solution seems like a logical one.
