I am building a V-drum sander based on the Stockroom Supply design. I will be using MDF disc glued together, mounted on a .875 diameter
shaft. It will be 24" long, with a 4" outside diameter drum. My question is should I mount the adhesive backed velcro to the raw MDF, or prime
and paint it. It may not matter, but I thought I should ask the experts. I have found great information for woodworkers who have built this
style of sander. No one has stated if it needed to be sealed or not. It will be mainly used for final sanding of endgrain chopping boards.
I will be machining the O.D. and dynamic balancing the entire rotating assembly to light speed specs. I am a machinist, what can I say. I want
zero vibration, and smooth sanding. This is the only question that I have not figured out yet about my design. Any input will be greatly
appreciated, thanks to all.
