Sorry Niels that my weird sence of humour rubbed you the wrong way.

But I am very interested in this burnishing thing. The problem though is that I can't replicate it. So it is hard for me to accept that theory. But I am open for enlightment. When you do know more about it, please explain.

BTW Rediuculous is spelled ridiculous. Kees,try sharpening your plane iron so the bottom edge of the blade is as nearly parallel to the wood as possible. I picked up doing this from an old cabinet maker 40 years ago.
