Maybe it does and I've never noticed it, but G-code isn't a prime option for Corel... you need a post-processor to create the G-code from the DXF file.

It doesn't work like that. You need a program that you can define the cutter diameters, cutting direction, speeds, feeds, etc. in. CorelDraw has no way of knowing what diameter cutter you are using or what speeds you want. It's also dependent on the machine and control you have on the machine. That's what the post processor does, it converts all your speeds/feeds, etc. into something your machine understands.

What are you trying to do? What machine are you trying to run. G-Gode is associated more with CNC routers than lasers, but you posted this in the laser forum. If you can explain what you are trying to do a little more, I'm sure we can help you.
    Lasers : Trotec Speedy 300 75W, Trotec Speedy 300 80W, Galvo Fiber Laser 20W
Printers : Mimaki UJF-6042 UV Flatbed Printer , HP Designjet L26500 61" Wide Format Latex Printer, Summa S140-T 48" Vinyl Plotter
    Router : ShopBot 48" x 96" CNC Router Rotary Engravers : (2) Xenetech XOT 16 x 25 Rotary Engravers

    Neil,

I use GCode with my laser and CNC machines.

It depends on what you are trying to do and the quality of the work you want to produce but Corel will export HPGL and there are a number of stand-alone software programs (some free) which will convert HPGL to GCode allowing you to specify Z depth, feed-rate etc.

Try a Google search for 'HPGL to GCode' and see what you can find.

sorry if im posting in the wrong forum

i thought ENGRAVERS FORUM cover engraving with a CNC machine mate

anyhow what i need i guess is a good post g-code processer

at present im using F-ENGRAVE....while a little primative....its fuctional

just looking for a better g-code post processor...

Doesn't F-Engrave support DXF files? I'm pretty sure it does.

    Neill,

Unless it has been changed this forum is titled :-

    Forum: Engravers Forum

Tips, Tricks and Tech Support for Lasers and Mechanical Engraving

    So no problems posting here.

What is it exactly that you want to engrave ??
What software is it that you are seeking a post-processor for ??

(although F-Engrave is good for text and V-Carving of text it is rather limited when it comes to DXF work).

    Paul.

No problem posting it here, it's just the first g-code related question I've seen here in years, so I wanted to understand what you had and what you were trying to use.

Vectric Cut2D might be worth a look at:

I design, engineer and program all sorts of things.

Oh, and I use Adobe Illustrator with an Epilog Mini.
