Attaching Aluminum Blast Gates To Metal Pipe How?

How are you guys attaching your ABG to your metal pipe? Are you pre-drilling the cast aluminum and screwing the pipe to it? Or just using clamps and sealing with tape and or duct seal? Or how?

I got my entire metal duct installed and only have the blast gates and hose to attach. I currently have the two wire type band clamps to attach the hose to the pipe and gates. But the gate to the metal pipe is where I am not sure of.

    Thanks Richard

I used rivits after pre drill. Then sealed.

Like Mike, I drilled, riveted and then sealed the joint.

I just used RTV silicone since I ran out of clamps, 10 years later still holding strong!

Pre-drill and hand drive self-tapping screws in. Silicone by itself will work too but it's a headache to get the assembly apart if you ever want to rearrange things.

Pop rivets and aluminum duct tape.

Rivets work great on my system. I also used rivets on all my pipe joints. Simple and easy to use.

Pre drill and screws here. Figured it would be easier to disassemble than rivets when I moved into the new shop.

Predrill, screws and silicone. If you don't seal with silicone, tape or some kind of sealer you will hear a big sucking sound, add it all up for several gates, wyes and bends and you loose a lot of performance.
