    First Carving.

    Here is my first carving. Well I guess the small one beside this really is.
    But I really like this carving thing. I found a few things out carving this.
    I know time flew by,,, lost track of time for sure. I notice some things in it don't look right with the
    shadows. My snap shots are not very good.

    +1, You're doing just fine. The profiles of the petals are very good and you're following the proper directions for depth cuts and the cuts that suggest curves etc. Shallow reliefs can be tough to pull off but you did a good job of it.
    I have carvings coming up that will feature a single rose nearly identical to this on a medallion and a second one which will have 3 roses on it.
    It's a fun subject to carve.

    Looking real good there, and I don't see any blood stains! Looks as though you're at the kitchen table. Gotta love a wife who understands!

    Thats funny you say that..hehehe
    There was a blood stain or two, I carved it out. Wife don't like
    blood.... Yes, at the kitchen table, will have to get my garage / workshop in order
    for next winter.
