    Walter,

That is outstanding, took a while to see how the illusion was accomplished. What type of medium do you use to fill in the engraving? (acrylic paint?).

    Hi scott
yes it is the " folk art" acrylic paint. I bought it at wallmart.
but its time consuming because of the miniature.

    Hi dee
I get the blank sheets from here
    http://www.estreetplastics.com/Clear...Thick_s/31.htm
thats the best price and the base is the black version of the acrylic. I make all of this myself cutting to size on the table saw, polishing the sides
first with the sander up to 600 grit, then prepolish with " braso" thats actually a brass cleaner but works best for acrylic, then on the polishing weel with carnauba wax.
ok now you know all my tricks, ha ha

    2766 a fish lr.jpggillfish1.jpgHi all
here a bit more. the left is the original picture from my friend artist axrylic sculpture, to the right is the conversion for laser engraving.
the settings on my 40W CO2 laser with AWC DSP is power 11.7%, speed 100mm/s .there are two runs with the same settings.
I believe this takes the whole acrylic engraving to a higher level. you need to adjust the contrast in corelpaint sofar that the background is pretty much blend out
if you got more questions just send a email.
    greetings
