Build shots in no particular order ....

Here are some pics that I took during the build - I vacuum pressed the veneered panels (new press bought from Joe Woodworker). Last shot is of drawer adjustable stops I made out of pieces of dowel with hole drilled concentrically, allowing fine adjustment of depth of drawer. Jury rigged belt sander to make curved handles.

Nice work Hans!! I love the sapwood! What did you use for a finish?

Hans, I always enjoy seeing construction photos so thanks for posting those. In photo #7 did you mortise your posts for the drawer side-runners and drawer dividers?

I have wanted a vacuum press for a few years now, every time I see one used in a project I’m tempted to place an order and build something with it. I really like your curly cherry panels, are they shop-sawn veneer? Any advice on selecting and using the vacuum press now that you have had a chance to use one?

You nailed every aspect of this project. The design is especially outstanding and so is your use of the wood but so is everything else.

    Thanks Paul,
I used a Domino for all the joinery. The drawer side guides are attached to front and back legs/stiles via dominos. I got the veneer equipment and the veneer from VeneerSupplies.com. The pump is a reconditioned unit and works very well. They are a pleasure to deal with. The setup I have is a continuous run system, so it's a bit noisy, since the pump needs to run for about an hour to get the glue set. But for the amount I do, it's more than good enough. What really impressed me is how I got the pump, fittings, 2' x 4' bag, veneer, and a gallon of veneer glue all for under $400.

Thanks everyone for the generous comments. Jeff, I used Minwax poly for the finish. I was at first intending to use shellac, but the stuff I have has a lot of amber colour in it and I wanted to keep it clear to bring out the figure in the wood.
