Hans, darn fine piece. I showed the wife that one cause we need a new chest for the foot of the bed. Your book match with figure is exceptional. I have always been a sucker for figured wood. Now if I could just find figured cherry around here.

Figured cherry is hard to get in most places. What about veneer though? Does beautifully for panels, cheaper and great book matches.

OK - now THAT is clever. I have never seen this method before. I fully intend to steal this, and to take credit for it.

    Nice piece - very nice.

Karl - I get my figured cherry [and other highly-figured species] shipped in from various sources, all of which are very reputable. And, all of which are in Pennsylvania - the ground zero of many high-quality hardwoods like cherry, white oak, maple, etc.

I'm in Atlanta, you are on the Left Coast - your freight will be higher than mine, but the shipping is not as high as you would think. I have made purchase from a couple boards to 500 BF.

I have my sources, and other guys here have theirs.

Don't want to hijack this thread - send me a PM if you want details.

Hans, I don't know if I am ready for veneer yet. I guess I just like the solid boards. Also solid boards are a lot easier to sand out all my "oh crud darn chisel" mistakes.

Kent, thanks I sent you a PM

Exceptionally beautiful Hans! I may copy this design but unlike Kent, I will give you credit.
