Thread: how do you empty your trash can separator?

    Thanks for the ideas. I think one of the problems I have when putting the bag over the can to empty the bag sucks in and creates a vacuum. I have a couple of cam lock leavers and might try drilling a couple of holes in the can and use the cam lock to release the vacuum. Just flip the cam to allow air in from the bottom when inverted.

    I do the "dump and run" in the big city barrel. After the dust settles I go back and get the 30 gal plastic can.

    One caution about using a liner bag is that it will tend to hang up in the straight sided (or even ribbed) barrel. Trying to get a packed bag of leaves out of a large trash can was always a big problem, and I can see wood chips/saw dust being even more of a problem. I have a friend that takes my wood shavings from turning and puts around his fruit trees and garden for mulch. He even supplies heavy duty 55 gal bags, and today I filled 2. Another friend has taken some chips to use in his chicken coop, and he gave me a dozen fresh eggs.
