    Dumb shellac question

    I bought a shellac flake assortment in 4 oz packages. How muck DNA would be used to make a 1lb cut? a 2lb cut?

    Thanks

    128 Ounces equal one gallon.. One pound cut would be 16 ounces of shellac flakes to one gallon of alcohol..

    For a 1lb cut 4 oz of flakes to 128/4= 32 oz of Denatured alcohol.. For a 2 lb cut 4 oz of flakes to 16 oz of alcohol...

    I printed that chart out some years ago and taped it to the wall.

    I found the easiest to remember is;
    16 oz in a pound
    and
    16 cups (8oz) in a gallon.

    So simply put:
    1 oz in 1 cup = 1# cut
    2 oz in 1 cup = 2# cut
    Scott

    Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.

    I too printed the chart. The 10z to 1 cup is a very useful tip as well.

    Thanks all!
