    Le' Roubo Saw

I posted this over on woodnet. But for those that go out as often as I do.... I never liked the proportions of an 18" x 5" plate. So I decided to make a Roubo saw. I also decided since this was a saw primarily for cutting thick timbers it should be more "roubust". Longer stroke, 0.032" plate, as well as a more robust handle including the lambs tongue. I also dropped the cheek just a bit which helps to protect the tongue as well. So hopefully the lambs tongue won't get chipped off so quickly. It's not quite finished as it still needs a logo etched on it and the teeth sharpened. This one is 10 ppi rip as requested by the owner and will probably have about 0.005" set per side. So there you have it. LE' ROUBO 20" tooth line x 5" under spine x 0.032".

Very nice Ron! Always nice to have a selection to choose from. Looks to be a formidable Roubo contender! I love my Bontz Half-Back. Keep up the great work.

This thing is big enough to deserve a second handle - out front.

It's like the world's finest logging saw...

Now that's a Bontz saw I'll need. Will this be a product?
My other backed saws are 9", 12", and 16".

It is on my web site. Be fore warned, it is not a light weight and was indeed meant for the heavier stock. The 1" spine alone adds a couple of ounces. A 3/4" spine is optional when they arrive. Waiting. I made it with the assumption I would make very few of them. A lot of folks will just go with a panel saw or hand saw. Just more of a preference / choice / etc. Always experimenting.

I've ended up with two shops (noise restrictions at my primary residence), so I get to do plenty of expiramenting.
I've even had Marv Werner build me a couple of true half-back saws. Now those are fun.
