    Planer question

I have recently purchased a Rockwell Invicta 13" planer, and would like to know if any one out there knows what kind of oil to use for the gear box. Thanks

What type oil is used in the 15" Planer gear box?

From the Q and A section of Delta's site:

The machine was originally filled with approximately 20 ounces of 140 weight, EP (extreme pressure), gear oil.
If adding oil, use 140 wt. EP gear oil.
If changing oil, either 140 wt. EP gear oil, or 85W140 wt, multi-viscosity EP gear oil may be used. Fill to the filler hole.
The 85W140 with EP Additive is available as Delta service part number 999010131210.
DO NOT MIX oils of different types or viscosities.

In reality, probably anything 80wt and above would probably be fine. My 15" planer has 90wt gear oil from an auto parts store. It has worked fine for years.

Thanks for the info. It really is a 13", when I first saw it I thought it was a 15", but it wasn't .
