Home Depot: Don't Buy Your PVC Dust Collection Pipes Here

    http://www.homedepot.com/p/Charlotte...specifications

Just received an email from HD touting that they now carry PVC in larger sizes for the Pros.

An example: 6X6X6 DWV Wye at $67.25 EACH

P.S. They don't list the ASTM grade

For reference, McMasters is $24 (ASTM 3034 and 2729).

Equally ridiculous prices on other fittings.

If memory serves, I paid about $12 per Y, $10 for 90s, etc. Got it from a (semi-)local major landscaping supply shop. I searched HD when I was first looking and they never had anything reasonable.

I paid about the same from a local plastic pipe supplier (specialists pipe supplier).

    Isn't DWV the heavy stuff?

DWV is drain/waste/vent...so normally it wouldn't be heavy compared to the pressure-rated stuff. That price is kind of steep, but they're not the only one charging the big bucks for 6" fittings. Take a look at Grainger for a laugh...

Dad and I were just chatting about how the same thing can have such wide price swings. It pays to take a little time and shop around, that's for sure.

I thought the light stuff was S&D. Never understood the apparent overlap but that's what I've always looked for when I want To do dust collection.

I ran DWV that I bought at HD and paid nowhere near that, but I ran 4". Maybe HD is trying to capitalize on the fact 6" is harder to find. Complain. One guy who works at HD that I talk to a lot, and seems a very straight up guy, says they actually listen to what customers say. It can't hurt.

The prices have gone through the roof in the last 5 years. When I asked about it they blamed it on oil prices. It does pay to shop around but I didn't have much luck in AZ finding a cheap source for 6". HD doesn't carry it any more.

I used S&D pipe and ended up making several of my fittings. Some fittings out of PVC and some out of wood.
Sorry my message is so long, I didn't have time to write a short one.
