Rug hook supplies

I've been asked to make some hooks for rug hooking. The preferred metal is 8mm stainless with a brass feral and a variety of wood for the handle. Where can I find the steel bar stock, preferably tapered and suitable for grinding to hook shape? Thanks

Fred, any of the supply houses will have 5/16 (0.312 vs 0.315 for 8mm) SS bar stock in several different flavors. I don't know what you mean by tapered.
