    UV-LED Samples

A few months back we bought a DCS Direct Jet 1024UVHS. It's been a lot of fun to work with, and has a lot of capabilities. My favorite so far has been the Textur3d effect, so I thought I'd post a few pictures. The texture is hard to see in the pictures. The first two are on canvas, the other two are on metal. I like printing textures onto canvas because the end product looks so much like a painting.

Oh, God! That third one is moving on me!

Can you explain more about this Textur3d effect?

Bill Leek had a good article on UV-LED printers in A&E magazine this month.

Basically, the UV-LED light cures the ink so quickly that the printer can keep depositing ink on specific areas. The print head can go over the same spot a couple of times and build up the ink, each time being cured instantly by the lamp. The texture is all run through DCS's Colorbyte software. It converts an image to a gray scale and you pick whether you want the lights or the darks raised, and by how much. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the trees are all raised off the substrate to varying degrees - the tree in the 4th pick is about .020 high.http://www.directcolorsystems.com/pr...d-printing.php

DCS is also patenting the process of printing Braille dots and raised letters using the same method. http://www.directcolorsystems.com/ada-printing/

Do you still like this DCS machine?

I am debating between buying this and the Graphics One F-24 UV LED Printer.
