A friend asks me for help in cancelling membership in The History Book Club. Last Friday, I found the customer service number 717-918-2665 printed on their recent invoice wasn't a working number. Their website said it was down for maintenance. Today their website works, but under "Contact us", I didn't find any phone number.

The address that their invoice gives for returning unwanted books is "Product Return Center, Hanover PA 17332". Is Hanover such a small town that "Product Return Center" is a complete address?

No Hanover is big enough to have more than one road. That seems kind of fishy to me.

At http://www.historybookclub.com/customer-service/help they list a phone number of 716-250-5700 (M-F, 8 am to 6 pm EST). I also found a website for their parent company, Bookspan/Direct Brands, at http://directbrands.com/. A separate company listing website shows their address as 501 Ridge Avenue in Hanover. Perhaps some of this will help you track them down.
