    Engraving nickle plated Alum.

    I did a forum search on this and really couldn't find an answer, maybe I posed the search question wrong, how ever can anyone tell me if you can engrave or technically I guess remove nickle plating from Alum. Thanks

    You can Cermark it. Cermark has stuck fairly well to Nickel plated things I have done in the past.
    Lasers : Trotec Speedy 300 75W, Trotec Speedy 300 80W, Galvo Fiber Laser 20W
    Printers : Mimaki UJF-6042 UV Flatbed Printer , HP Designjet L26500 61" Wide Format Latex Printer, Summa S140-T 48" Vinyl Plotter
    Router : ShopBot 48" x 96" CNC Router Rotary Engravers : (2) Xenetech XOT 16 x 25 Rotary Engravers

    Real name Steve but that name was taken on the forum. Used Middle name. Call me Steve or Scott, doesn't matter.

    Thanks Scott, thats pretty much what I thought, but someone asked me if a laser would remove the nickle plating , had to ask.

    Generally no... the only caveat would be if the plating was so bad it was peeling, at which point you could likely burn it off (or scrape it off in 1/10th the time).
