    Pecan Bowl

This is a piece of pecan that came from a 200+ year old pecan tree in Carthage MO. The owner had to cut it down because of decay and the fear that it would fall on his MIL house. I gave it to the family today as a thank you for letting me get some of the wood. The wife almost started to cry when she saw it. I filled the cracks with Inlace turquoise. It is 11 1/2" x 3". C&C welcomed.

That's a nice bowl and a nice gesture, Steve. I like turning pecan. The wood has great character and color.

  3. Classy looking bowl with some beautiful figure, nice job Steve. Don't you love getting free wood, I always make something for anyone giving me wood and the wood pile gets bigger and bigger.

I love the bowl. I'm curious how you dried it out quick to be able to finish it and give it to them? Or did the tree come down and you roughed the bowl a year ago?
