    poplar posts

    I have a quick question
Is half round poplar posts of any value in the boat building industry?
I have a few that are straight grain and about 8 plus feet long.

All I'm asking is what are they used for.
I'm a wood turner not a boat builder
there has been 152 views and no one knows ??????????
One person told me that the groove the center and run a rope thru
to raise and lower the mast. Is this true?
I'm cutting them into short pieces and gluing them together and using them as decoration.

    Kenneth,
It's not very decay resistant wood, the only thing I would consider it for would be forms, bracing, jigs, etc, all used in the construction of a boat, not the boat itself.
