Coming along nicely!
Woodworking is terrific for keeping in shape, but it's also a deadly serious killing system...
Thanks Chris!
I'm very curious to see an update on your bench, btw.

Yeah, we were making great progress, and then life got really busy again (had to work a number of weekends). I haven't been out to Paul's since the weekend of PATINA and we haven't worked on the bench since a week or two before that. Anyway, work has gone back to normal so hopefully I can go out to Pauls this weekend and we can wrap up the build. I'll definitely repost to my thread once we progress again.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing the results!

Brian,
I'm really enjoying your build thread! Thanks also for the great photos.
Very nice work! Through, wedged M&T, my favorite. Beautiful figure in the top - the butterfly's are IMHO are also great - very "Soul of a Tree" (hopefully not too obscure George Nakashima reference).
Is it your design? I very much like the lines.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Mike
BTW, I'm at an age where my memory isn't what it used to be . Your Avatar - 1930's actor? Douglas Fairbanks?
Probably embarrassingly off target, regrettably re-occurring theme for me these days. Surely could be worse.

Thanks Mike! Glad you are enjoying and I appreciate the comments. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how the grain comes through on this top.
This is my design, I enjoy structurally apparent table bases and this one's goal is to be easy to knock down.
My avatar is Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor. A man of questionable life choices, but great dress.

So, I've had a feeling since I started this base that I would need a way to put pressure on the half lap joints for the stretcher. Turns out I did, so I put together this thing;
The far cut is at a 14 degree angle, the near cut is relieved so that it does not interfere.
More contrast than I usually go for, but I had a combination of a wild hair and a lack of 5/4 white ash lying around.

Nice work. Enjoying following the build.
Thanks Tony.
I should have the top on this week. I dovetailed in the front batten, the back one will be affixed by screws since the changes of getting them both within .010 of where they need to be is quite unlikely.

Love this build. Interesting idea with the wedge.

Now, if I could just stay focused longer than a few weeks...
Next time I do the wedge for a project i think I will narrow the angle and probably will do tone on tone, but I had plenty of correctly thicknesses walnut lying around.
