Noga also appears to have some, although they appear to specialize more in detail scrapers:

Never tried them so I have no idea on the quality or details.

It does seem that if you're not tooled up to sharpen the carbide that HSS would be perhaps less painful.

I can sharpen either, I guess. I don't have CBN tools to do heavy grinding of carbide, but plenty of stuff to maintain it.

That said, HSS would be easier to maintain, even if it cut less long.

Certainly not my area of expertise, but you may want to check out Rennsteig (Germany) scrapers on Amazon

Yeah, there are some of those on ebay. They appear to be carbon steel (and they are inexpensive). I'll go look, they might have one with HSS inserts or something.

Jeez - $90 for 10, now the 1 for $25 on ebay doesn't look so cheap!

Ferric Frottage - Manchester United midfielder in the 1970's?

Great all around player, but his iron demeanor
and flinty attitude at the pub rubbed his mates the wrong way.

I think he's tank farming Ailwives in Wales, in some hidden warehouse.

David, sorry I didn't see this thread. We have talked on the phone by now of how to make and use a hand scraper to do your plane soles.

    Hi David,
This is an URL of Russian language metalworking hobbyists with a main thread about hand scraping
    http://www.chipmaker.ru/forum/107/
Below is a thread where you find photos of shop made hand scraper for scraping iron
    http://www.chipmaker.ru/topic/90302/

You can try to look with help of Google translator and if it will be interesting for you I can translate some technical points.
Or you can check English-spoken metalworkers forums. I know that people from chipmaker.ru very often find useful info on the English forums.
