My ECE Primus 703 with a hornbeam sole and with a vandium blade works just fine. It greats shavings that are a whisper in thickness and leaves a surface that doesn't need sanding. A true pleasure to use.

I sharpened my blade using a a Sigma ceramic stone starting with 1000 then progressing to 6000 and finally 13000. I add a microbevel to the bevel and then flip the blade over and using a steel ruler add a microbevel to the back side. The edge that results is sharper than a razor blade.

    George,
I agree, my ECE Primus 711 honed on my Ohishi 10k then a strop leaves a wonderful sheen on cherry.
