    Undersized blower on small cyclone

I'd like to put the motor/blower on top of the cyclone but don't want to add the height of an adapter. Any problem putting the blower's intake centered into the top of the cyclone with a gasket? Figure the suction is supposed to come up the middle so shouldn't hurt performance. The frame both will be mounted to is solid enough to keep in position.

Any problem with doing this? Would take a pic but need to take apart as the blower is now.

    Thanks,
    Rich

My cyclone (Wood Magazine) has a six inch outlet, and my blower has a seven inch inlet. I just made a doughnut (3/4 MDF), with a six inch center hole, which is radiused with a 1/2" round over bit to smooth transition. Blower mounts directly to cyclone, using doughnut to make transition.
