    Kitchen Island

We've wanted additional work space for the kitchen since we moved in our house many years ago. I finally decided to make it happen. I employed help from some family members and the kitchen island became a reality. It was one of those...why did we wait so long to do this, kind of things. Top is maple and the legs are maple as well from Matt Burak. Aprons are from poplar. Spices are much easier to find in a drawer in lieu of an upper cabinet.

Top is 20" wide x 66" long x 2 3/8" thick, one large cutting board.

Excellent. I wouldn't use that top as a cutting board though if it were mine. My wood cutting boards get stains from fruits and vegetables, not to mention all the cut marks. I suppose you could refresh it with a plane every several months, but easier to just have smaller cutting board to use on top - also the small ones are handy to convey the chopped stuff to the pot on the stove and the like. Nice bowl too. Did you turn that?
