    Candlestick demo - styles?

I was contacted earlier this afternoon by the V.P. of our club who also serves as program coordinator. One of the requests on the survey the members filled out was for a candlestick demo...........well, he asked me to do it!

I responded to his request in the affirmative, but told him I thought we should do something with more features than a Rude Olsolnik style candlestick........they are nice for sure, but I think the spindle skills are what the members are looking for and I would like to show them something else.

Looking at images I noticed these two styles.......that look promising. well, the images don't seem to post!

If you have a style you think would be a good fit for a club demo, please post a pic in this thread.........I could use a few ideas!

Roger, do you do inside-out turning? That might be an option. Turning a piece of firewood into a candle stick?

This club had a demo last year on inside out turning.........a number of different forms, and a few months ago, a gentleman who is very good at inside out forms has become a member........I think he is on the list for an upcoming demo. I think they are looking for more of a spindle skills demo for the one requested from me.

Your idea is a good one!

Could try something multi axis. That would be a little different and fun.

Not a bad idea Bob! I might have to play around with that a bit, and see what the results are!

I know it's an old thread, but the club President's Challenge for Tuesday's meeting is Candlesticks, so I want to make a couple for my wife. Where do I get the metal cups to insert into the wood?

BTW: I hope you don't mind, but I'll probably try to copy the 1st or 3rd in the first photo, The others are beyond my skill level currently.

I ended up getting 3/4" diameter door slide cups from Lowes for the quick fix. My candlesticks turned very quickly last night, from I think what is spalted yellow pine, but I am not sure what the wood is. C&C welcomed.
