    new small laser purchase

I just picked up a new small laser called prime from mike dorian logimation in toronto ontario ,its 40 watt 22x14 working surface, manual z axis about 6 inch travel
and assembled in toronto ( i am about 3 hrs away from parts and service)
Price was very good I paid 3520.00 usd funds and it came with a commercial water cooler ,small compressor and the air mover.
This unit is small enough to take to a show ,this is the one i will cart around
I have not run it yet but in the weeks to follow i will post my findings

    Congrats Stan!

Anxious to hear how you do! And the best to you with the new venture! What kinds of things do you hope to do with it?

900x600 80watt EFR Tube laser from Liaocheng Ray Fine Tech LTD. Also a 900x600 2.5kw spindle CNC from Ray Fine. And my main tool, a well used and loved Jet 1642 Woodlathe with an outboard toolrest that helps me work from 36 inch diameters down to reallllllly tiny stuff.

Gee it looks just like the Storm 500 I purchased a month ago from Automation Technologies in Chicago. Made by G.Wieke in China. I paid $2300 (no credit card) plus shipping from Chicago. No chiller. It works very well, happy camper here.

    Yup it's a Weike

The CW3000 isn't a chiller Stan, it blows air over a coil that has the water in it, be careful if you run it in a high ambient temp area as it can only cool to ambient.

    cheers

    You did what !

I found the packing crate yielded some nice practice plywood. Picture #3 the black with white laser design , what material did you use?

the black picture was home depot black rolled aluminum 24 in wide by the foot ,it lasers nicely sort of like annodized alum
I was asked to test this laser as i have a 100 watt larger unit worth a bit more ,I am surprised at the performance of this laser
I have no complaints ,i would prefer more power but it just means more passes ie arborite the old fashioned kind took 3 passes to cut through
For the price its excellent value( i can remember paying almost this for a laser printer back 10yrs )

also the cooler unit ,i have been running it now for 3 days on and off and the temp stays at 20 degree c,never goes higher so it is controlling

We have the same "cooler" running our machine, in the height of summer here (Australia) the temperature still gets up around 30'c if we're not careful with it

I've been googling "Prime Laser", "Prime Laser Engraver", Prime Laser Machine" but cant find anything for this machine. Can you give me a little more info about the manufacturer? Just need more bread crumbs to follow... Thanks!
