    Pictures Included In Posts

I really like this forum except for one thing: having to sign in to view pictures that are included in posts. Why can't this be changed?

It can, but this is standard procedure for most forums. It prevents bots from nabbing pictures, it can help provide feedback to the forum owner as to how bandwidth is being used, etc.

If it's a problem, don't sign out... when I come here, the first thing I see is the list of forums. The only time I ever see a log-in page is when my cookies expire or the site has a forum software reload.

I also just click the "Remember Me" box and I am already signed in when I open the forum. I don't use the same password for any account so I am not concerned about SMC "remembering" this one although that is not my normal computing habit.

I seem to recall from quite a few years ago that the reasons for this are: to reduce bandwidth usage by only allowing members to view pictures, and to (passively) nudge lurkers to become members as more members would increase the overall benefit SMC is to its members.

    Jason has a good memory

People who just lurk never post.
Without people who post there is nothing to lurk at.
If people register and join our Community they are more likely to start posting and getting involved.
